Camel caravan crossing desert dunes beside a robed guide, fire, and Arabic-inscribed stone arch
A camel caravan crosses glowing desert dunes as a robed guide watches beside a fire.

Imagine a caravan crossing a desert.

It’s carrying everything.

Food.

Water.

Supplies.

Goods.

People.

The caravan has to keep moving because its job is to transport things from one place to another.

Now imagine there’s a gate.

People come through that gate because they know something valuable is on the other side.

The gatekeeper doesn’t have to carry everything.

The gatekeeper’s value comes from where he is positioned.

That’s the idea behind something I’ve been thinking about from the Solomon Wealth Code:

Be the gatekeeper, not the caravan.

Stop Carrying Everything

There’s a lesson here for online business.

A lot of us spend our time trying to become the caravan.

We want to create everything.

Write everything.

Learn everything.

Sell everything.

Build everything.

Manage everything.

And before long, we’re exhausted.

But what if you could position yourself differently?

Instead of trying to be the person who creates everything, become the person who helps people find what they need.

Become a trusted guide.

A curator.

A teacher.

A resource.

A connector.

A person who has already done some of the searching and can save others time and frustration.

That’s a powerful position.

The Internet Doesn’t Need Another Everything Expert

There’s already plenty of information online.

In fact, there’s probably too much.

The problem isn’t always finding information.

It’s figuring out:

Which information matters?

Which tools are useful?

Where should I start?

What should I ignore?

What’s actually practical for someone like me?

That’s where a trusted guide can provide tremendous value.

And that’s a position almost anyone can begin developing.

This Is Especially Important in Your Second Act

You don’t have to know everything.

You don’t have to be the world’s leading expert.

You simply need to know something valuable and be willing to share it.

Maybe you’ve spent 30 years in accounting.

Maybe you’ve been a teacher.

Maybe you’ve managed people.

Maybe you’ve worked in construction.

Maybe you’ve raised a family.

Maybe you’ve built businesses.

Maybe you’ve learned how to solve a problem that other people are still struggling with.

Your experience can become a doorway.

And you can become the person standing beside that doorway saying:

“Let me show you what I’ve learned.”

The Digital Five L Position

This is part of the reason we’re repositioning Digital Five L.

We’re not trying to become the biggest affiliate site on the internet.

We’re not trying to carry every product across the desert.

We’re trying to become a resource for Second Act folks who want to understand what’s possible online.

That means sharing ideas.

Explaining tools.

Creating Kindle books.

Writing practical blog posts.

Exploring affiliate marketing.

Talking about digital products.

Looking at automation and AI.

And helping people connect the dots.

Affiliate marketing can still be part of that.

But it becomes a tool rather than the entire identity.

That’s an important distinction.

Your Position Can Become Your Asset

The more consistently you help people solve a particular type of problem, the more clearly they can understand what you represent.

You don’t have to shout:

“I’m an expert!”

You can simply keep showing up.

Keep learning.

Keep sharing.

Keep helping.

Eventually, people may begin to think:

“If I have a question about this, I wonder what they have to say.”

That’s positioning.

That’s becoming a gatekeeper.

And that’s a much less exhausting business model than trying to carry the entire caravan yourself.

You don’t have to create everything.

Sometimes your greatest value comes from helping people find the right things.

We are publishing a new ebook each Sunday focused on sharing knowledge about thriving in your second act, financially, physically, emotionally, and especially in family relationships and leaving a legacy that lives on.
