I recently came across a book in my collection by Laurie Beth Jones titled Jesus, Entrepreneur and she provides this information in the introduction of the book:
“In the past few years, I have become aware of a new breed of businesspeople. I call them spiritreneurs (Spirit-ra-nurs). ‘Spiritreneur’ is devired from the words spirit and entrepreneur. Webster’s dictionary defines spirit briefly as ‘the soul or heart, as the seat of feelings’ and entrepreneur as ‘a person who organizes and manages an enterprise, especially a business, usually with considerable initiative and risk.’”
She continues “Thus, spiritreneurs are those who fully integrate their soul in a workplace enterprise. If you want to know whether or not you are a spiritreneur, just ask yourself two questions, ‘Would I be doing this work even if I weren’t getting paid?’ and ‘Am I doing this work as unto the Lord?’ If your answer to both of these questions is yes, you are on your way to ‘spiritreneurship.’”

Laurie goes on to unveil the profound connection between spirituality and work, urging us to align our professional endeavors with our core values and beliefs. Her insights resonate deeply, especially in the context of affiliate marketing, a field often dominated by profit-driven motives. By embracing the principles of “spiritreneurism,” we can transcend traditional entrepreneurial goals and build ventures rooted in purpose, integrity, and service.
Jesus Didn’t Work for Money
One of the most striking lessons from Jesus, Entrepreneur is that Jesus didn’t chase wealth. His mission was fueled by a higher purpose: to serve others and fulfill His calling. As affiliate marketers, we can adopt this mindset by focusing on promoting products that genuinely help people. For instance, instead of being lured by the highest commissions, prioritize items that align with your values and benefit your audience. Whether it’s health supplements, educational resources, or tools for personal growth, ensure that your offerings make a positive impact. By prioritizing value over profit, you build trust and long-term loyalty with your audience.
Be Willing to Walk Away
Jesus demonstrated the courage to walk away from situations that didn’t align with His mission. In affiliate marketing, this principle reminds us to be discerning. Not every opportunity is worth pursuing, even if it seems lucrative. For example, rejecting partnerships or products that conflict with your ethics or your audience’s needs can be a bold yet necessary step. Walking away from misaligned ventures ensures that your brand remains authentic and credible.
Invest Emotions Wisely
Jones emphasizes the importance of emotional investment, highlighting how Jesus poured His energy into people and endeavors that mattered. As an affiliate marketer, your emotional bandwidth is a valuable resource. Avoid spreading yourself too thin by chasing every trend or opportunity. Instead, channel your energy into building meaningful relationships with your audience. Use tools like email automation and personalized content to foster genuine connections. By investing wisely, you’ll cultivate a loyal community that supports and amplifies your efforts.
Do Well by Doing Right
At the heart of Jesus, Entrepreneur is the concept of “spiritreneurism”—working in a way that allows you to succeed while staying true to your values. For affiliate marketers, this could mean promoting products that contribute to overall wellness, like health supplements or relationship enrichment tools, as I’ve done with offerings like GotBackup.com and My Lead Gen Secret. Align your business with a mission that resonates with you, whether it’s empowering others to lead healthier lives or providing solutions that simplify their day-to-day challenges.
One shining example of a modern-day spiritreneur is John Thornhill. His approach to affiliate marketing and digital product creation embodies the principles outlined in Jesus, Entrepreneur. Through his offerings like the Webinar Profit Engine, Master Affiliate Profits, and his most recent Online Success Coaching, John shares invaluable knowledge and tools that empower individuals to create and market their own digital products. His dedication to helping others succeed while maintaining integrity and purpose is a testament to the power of spiritreneurism. We wholeheartedly endorse John’s programs for their ability to transform lives and guide aspiring entrepreneurs toward meaningful success.

Pursue Excellence and Learn from Disappointments
Jesus’s commitment to excellence in all He did is a powerful example for modern entrepreneurs. As affiliate marketers, this means continuously refining your strategies, improving your content, and staying adaptable in a dynamic industry. Disappointments and setbacks are inevitable, but they’re also opportunities for growth. When a campaign doesn’t perform as expected, analyze the data, learn from the experience, and adjust your approach. Each failure is a stepping stone toward greater success.
Believe in Your Vision
Perhaps the most inspiring takeaway from Jones’s book is the call to believe in your vision. Jesus’s unwavering belief in His mission empowered Him to overcome obstacles and inspire others. As an affiliate marketer, your vision is your guiding light. Whether you’re promoting health and wellness products or creating digital resources to empower others, stay rooted in your purpose. Share your story authentically and let your passion shine through in your marketing efforts.
Make a Lasting Impact
Finally, Jesus, Entrepreneur challenges us to think beyond financial success and consider the legacy we leave behind. In affiliate marketing, this could mean creating content that educates and inspires, building a brand that stands for integrity, or mentoring others who are just starting their journey. By focusing on making a meaningful impact, you’ll not only achieve personal fulfillment but also foster a business that resonates deeply with your audience.
Incorporating the timeless wisdom of Jesus, Entrepreneur into your affiliate marketing journey isn’t just about achieving success—it’s about doing so in a way that honors your values, serves others, and leaves a lasting legacy. Embrace the principles of “spiritreneurism,” and watch as your business transforms into a force for good, inspiring both you and those you serve.
