Our son and his wife recently made a move from Texas to a semi-rural area in Virginia. They’re loving the adventure of settling into a new place and discovering all the cool stuff around them. But, they hit a little hiccup the other day while trying to order pizza.
They placed an order through the app, but it said they were outside the delivery zone. Funny thing was, they had just seen a delivery car from that same pizza place drive by. The next time they went to the store, they asked about it and were told that the app didn’t recognize their address, but the store actually did deliver there. They just needed to call the store directly. Problem solved. They got their pizza, and the store made the sale.
That’s what you call a solid Plan B.
Now contrast that with something my wife recently experienced. We showed up for her doctor’s appointment, but because we forgot to bring her logs, they flat-out refused to see her. I get it, rules are rules, especially in the medical world, but this felt ridiculous. We offered to bring the logs back later that same day, but nope, they wouldn’t budge. The appointment was canceled, and we left feeling like they didn’t care about her well-being. No Plan B, no flexibility—just frustration.
They lost us as patients, and it didn’t have to go down that way.
This made me think: How about in affiliate marketing? Do you have a Plan B for when things don’t go exactly as planned? If not, it’s time to reconsider. Staying flexible is key.
We’ve tried a lot of different approaches in our own affiliate marketing journey, and the progress we’re making comes from our willingness to adapt. Sometimes the original plan doesn’t work, and that’s okay. It’s all about being willing to pivot when needed.
Andrew Wommack shared a story about the first moon landings, where the spacecraft had to constantly make course corrections—sometimes every 15 minutes. Imagine if they hadn’t been flexible; they could still be drifting out in space. The same goes for your affiliate marketing journey. You’ve got to stay open-minded, be willing to adjust, and trust the process.
The end goal might not change, but how you get there might take a few unexpected turns. And that’s perfectly fine.
